The Ventnor Merchant’s Association is sponsoring the 3rd Annual Polar Bear Swim and Chili Cook off on January 1st, 2009. Last year over a 1,000 spectators cheered the members of the Ventnor Polar Bear Club and others who braved the frigid waters for a refreshing dip in the Atlantic Ocean as they have for the past 10 years. We are happy to report that everyone survived. Afterwards, everyone warmed up with hot coffee and hot chili to celebrate the New Year.
This year (2009) at 1 pm the festivities begin again at the Ventnor Public Library beach, 6500 Atlantic Ave., Ventnor, NJ.
It is popular belief that a dip in the ocean during the winter can be a boon to one's stamina, virility and immunity while this may be true we are certain that a bowl of our hot chili will cure anything that ails you.
We will have t-shirts available for only $10 to commemorate this terrific event.
